Oshawa Community Museum

The Oshawa Community Museum's online gift shop is an extension of our shop in Lakeview Park, Oshawa, ON.

Opened in 1985 as part of the Guy House Restoration project, our quaint little shop has been through many changes over the years.

Sydenham was selected at the Museum and gift shop's former name because of its historical relationship to Oshawa’s lakefront. In 1840 the Oshawa Harbour was named Port Sydenham in honour of Lord Sydenham who was the Governor General of Upper Canada from 1839 – 1841. In 1998 when the name was changed to Oshawa Community Museum, Sydenham was retained and used for the name of our gift shop.

After being closed for a year and a half after a devastating fire, the the gift shop re-opened in May 2005, International Museum Month. Since then staff have worked hard to update the stores look and stock.

Finally, our new Cafe Press Shop is bringing us into the 21st century. We are excited to share our products with and the world!
